Portland I-205 Extension - Portland, Ore.
The Portland I-205 Extension Project was seven miles of light rail double track along the I-205 corridor east of Portland. As part of Tri-Met’s South Corridor Expansion, an already successful rail network, the project provides MAX Green Line Light rail service by connecting to the existing transit center at Gateway and proceeding south into Clackamas County along a dedicated rail right of way.
This project involved the installation of the systems elements to support this new light rail segment. MEC’s scope of work included 285 OCS poles, 181,000 LF of OCS contact wire, 7 traction power substations, 6 signal interlocking, 2 grade crossings with warning gates, 137,000 LF of fiber optic cable, and communication devices and electrical work at 8 passenger stations.
